MPL Conducted a Fire Awareness Training for MSS Staff

First session was held at Port Training Centre

Malé, 20 October 2025 - Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), through its Port Training Centre, has launched a Fire Awareness Training Program for staff of Maldives State Shipping (MSS), aiming to enhance their understanding of fire safety and emergency response procedures in the workplace.

The first session, held on October 20, 2025, saw the participation of 25 MSS employees. The training was delivered by experienced instructors from MPL’s Health and Safety Department, focusing on both theoretical and hands-on aspects of fire prevention and control. The second batch of the program is set to take place on October 26, 2025.

During the session, participants learned about the common causes of workplace fires, firefighting techniques, and proper use of safety equipment. The training also included practical demonstrations, where attendees practiced extinguishing fires and following emergency protocols to ensure preparedness in real-life situations.

MPL noted that the program is part of its ongoing efforts to collaborate with partner organizations in promoting workplace safety and building a proactive safety culture. The company reaffirmed its commitment to conducting similar initiatives regularly, emphasizing that employee readiness and protection against emergencies remain top priorities in maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
