
MPL Staff Participate in “Secure Ports and Maritime Cyber Risks” Training
Two day program to strengthens port security and cyber resilience
Malé, 8 October 2025 - Staff from Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) took part in the “Secure Ports and Maritime Cyber Risks” training held on 29th and 30th September 2025. The program was conducted under the U.S. Embassy’s Speaker Program, which brings subject matter experts to the Maldives to share knowledge with government, academic, and civil society partners on critical areas of mutual interest.
The two day training was led by retired U.S. Coast Guard Admiral Paul Thomas, who guided participants through key topics including:
Secure Ports – Legal authorities and operational frameworks
Maritime Cyber Risks – Emerging challenges and strategies for mitigation
The initiative highlights MPL’s ongoing commitment to strengthening port security frameworks and enhancing resilience against both physical and cyber threats in the maritime sector.
Through participation in such programs, MPL ensures that its staff remain up to date with global best practices and innovative approaches to safeguarding port operations, contributing to safer and more secure maritime trade in the Maldives.
